A general medical assessment provides you with all the facts of a prospective employee pre-employment, Where an Exit assessment ensures you are fully aware of your employees' general health when they leave your employment.
Surveillance assesses the effect the job or task may have on workers' health. Health surveillance is required by law in situations where employees may be exposed to certain hazards.
Protocols and procedures are put in place where a manager(s) can access general information, or formally refer an employee if they have any concerns in their general health or ability to perform their work correctly.

Respiratory surveillance is carried out for any employee who may be exposed to respiratory sensitivities. Initial and periodic examination is required to ensure the employee does not develop a respiratory problem that may be caused by exposure to respiratory sensitizers at work, or affect their ability to carry out their usual duties.
Hand Arm vibration comes as a result of using hand-held power tools. Regular exposure to hand-held vibration can cause a range of conditions known as Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) which can cause significant ill health (painful and disabling disorders of the blood vessels, nerves, joints and muscles of the hand and arms).
Skin surveillance is carried out for any employee who may be at risk from occupational skin diseases, also known as occupational dermatitis, primarily caused by or exacerbated by the employee’s work.
Audiometery is an assessment of the employee’s hearing. Audiometery surveillance is required to comply with Control of Noise at Work Regulations to determine whether there is deterioration in an employee’s hearing as a result of exposure to workplace noise.
Visual aquity is an assessment of an employee’s vision. Visual aquity surveillance is required when an employee’s role requires a specified level of visual capability and an assessment of their vision is required.
Employees required to drive Fork Lift Truck machinery require a Fork Lift Truck Health Assessment (FLT Driver) to ensure they meet the medial standards as set by the HSE.
Required for an employee who is to travel outside Western Europe as part of their job role, an assessment of the employee’s fitness for travel is required.
A Confined space is a place which is substantially enclosed (though not always entirely), and where serious injury can occur from hazardous substances or conditions within the space or nearby (e.g. lack of oxygen).
Under law a suitable and sufficient assessment must be carried out of the work, identifying any hazards present, assessing the risks and determining what precautions to take, this includes the suitability of those carrying out the task.
An ergonomic assessment is to ensure that the employee’s work station is accessible and practicable.
